Our activities
We want to think of a better life for those less fortunate than us and, with the help of our dogs, we organize various courses and initiatives.
Psycho-educational and recreational interventions with therapeutic projects, which are aimed at the improvement of alterations of physical disorders, of the emotional and cognitive sphere, validated thanks to the use of initial, intermediate and final evaluations of the therapeutic project, are followed by a respectable work team including:
- Alberto Stimamiglio, dog educator FISC – APICC and ENCI, operator in pet Therapy
- Dogs prepared and tested with the protocols of the DELTA society
Pet Therapy is widely used in various social-care sectors, including nursing homes, hospitals or recovery communities. This activity consists of supportive therapeutic practices that, with the help of animals, integrate, strengthen and support the therapies normally carried out.
The fundamental objective is therefore the improvement of the quality of life of the suffering people and the main subjects to whom this type of therapy is addressed are hospitalized children, the elderly and some types of disabled people who, because of their condition, often suffer from depression , behavioral disorders, sleep disorders and appetite.
It has been observed that a general increase in good mood, greater reactivity and sociability, and easier contacts with therapists were observed in periods of cohabitation with animals. An improvement in the general state of well-being for those who often, because of loneliness and lack of affection, close in on themselves and refuse interpersonal relationships. The dog, which has a privileged relationship with man, is frequently used as a co-therapist, exploiting its natural predisposition to play, companionship and interaction.
The main medical goal is to improve, in patients, some mental and behavioral skills (such as control of hyperactivity, body relaxation and rule acquisition), psychosocial (such as improvement of interpersonal and interpersonal skills) or psychological (such as the treatment of animal phobia or the improvement of self-esteem).
The importance of the relationship between human and animal has roots in prehistory, but only in 1960 Boris Levinson enunciats for the first time his theories on the benefits of the company of animals that he applies in the care of his patients. In 1981, the Delta Society was founded in the United States, which deals with the study of the therapeutic effects linked to the company of animals.
